Developed by a team of experts focusing on four pillars: neuroscience, social-emotional learning (SEL), positive psychology and MindUP was created in response to the global epidemic of childhood aggression, anxiety, depression, and suicide. ONEHOPE has proudly donated $25,000 to MindUP to provide 10,000 children with the resources, education, and support needed to thrive in both school and life. Students will be challenged to identify the three helpers.This month, we’re partnering with MindUP for Life: The Goldie Hawn Foundation, to raise funds and awareness for children’s mental health. Grades PreK–2 shows the three big helpers in the brain. Getting to Know and Love Your Brain: Full colour Posters: Each of the three books comes with an age-appropriate colourful poster with fascinating facts about the brain. (See Lesson 3, page 42, for a complete overview of the Core Practice.) The Core Practice makes mindful attention the foundation for learning and interacting ideally, it is repeated for a few moments of each school day throughout the year. The essential work of MindUP is accomplished through the lessons themselves, which include the repetition of the Core Practice-deep belly breathing and attentive listening. Over the course of the MindUP experience, children learn about the brain and how it functions, in the process gaining insight into their own minds and behaviours as well as those of the people around them. MindUP’s expansive dynamic is built to a large extent on routine practices that are inherent to the MindUP Curriculum.
